Households at Newbury will be joining a tradition of achievement as part of the South Fayette School District. The district serves South Fayette Township in Allegheny County, just 12 miles southwest of Pittsburgh, with three schools for grades K-12. The elementary school, middle school and high school all sit along Old Oakdale Road in McDonald, PA, in one central location, which provides an unparalleled sense of stability as students move toward graduation. The school district is also consistently placed near the top of both Western Pennsylvania and state-wide rankings, finishing 7th and 16th respectively in 2010.
Along with its success academically, the Class AA South Fayette High School offers 17 varsity sports, 7 fine arts and performing arts programs, as well as 17 other clubs and organizations ranging from Student Government and National Honor Society to Future Business Leaders of America.
In addition to extracurricular activities, South Fayette provides 10 AP and 22 Honors level courses pertaining to each core academic subject and foreign languages. This past year, students took advantage of these course offerings as nearly 90% of the graduating class went on to a college or university.
“Tradition, Pride, Excellence,” the slogan of the South Fayette School District has led to bright futures for all of its students, and it is these same values that are at the heart of the community at Newbury.
