Construction Update April 2, 2010

Over the past few months, the team at Newbury has continued to progress even with the unprecedented weather conditions for our area. They are nearing the completion of the storm drainage and sanitary sewer system installation process for the first phase of the residential development and have begun the expansion of an existing surcharge.

Now, with the snow gone and Spring ahead, the pace is sure to quicken and we will once again keep you updated with the most recent updates from the job site. This update will focus on the transportation and placement of fill from the residential area to retail portion for use in the aforementioned surcharge expansion.

Please use the site map below as a reference for location and photo direction.

(Point 1, Retail Site)

This photo features the surcharge located just to the right of the entrance to the retail area. It has been featured in many previous construction updates, however, unlike the previous updates, the surcharge seems to now have two levels. The top level with the lighter colored dirt is the original surcharge that you have most likely seen before. This part of the surcharge has been completed, but it is necessary to expand the area. The lower level with the darker dirt is the new focus of the operation.

This shot more clearly shows the difference between the past and present phases of this project. Notice the loader spreading fill that has been brought from the residential portion of Newbury.

(Point 2, Retail Site)

The dirt that is being spread in the previous photo was placed by this dump truck on an earlier run between the two different areas of the site.

On the left of this photo you can see the dump truck from the previous shot as it heads back for a new load. This shot also gives you some perspective on the increased size of the surcharge. Previous updates showed that this surcharge only extended to where the dump truck is currently located. The job site trailer that once sat to the right of the truck has since moved closer to Presto Sygan Road and allowed for the expansion of the structure on the building pad site.

(Point 3, Residential Site)

This shot features another dump truck as it is being loaded by a backhoe along the site drive of the residential development. This view provides a glimpse in the work necessary for the surcharge operation and gives a great look at the well defined road that will become the entrance to Newbury once it is paved in a few short weeks.

(Point 3, Residential Site)

The final photo of this update shows the loaded dump truck as it crosses Presto Sygan Road on its way to place the fill at the surcharge location. If you’ve driven down this road during the day then you’ve noticed personnel managing the traffic situation and keeping the operation as safe as possible.
