This past Monday, the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (PA DEP) approved the Water Obstruction and Encroachment Permit for Newbury. This permit enables Newbury to complete grading and development activities that impact wetlands, streams and ponds, and provides approval from PA DEP for the construction of replacement wetland, streams and ponds at the Newbury site.
With this permit approval, grading activities associated with the brownfield remediation at the former manufacturing facility will begin across the site for Newbury Market, including additional earthwork at the 84 Lumber site. Also, construction of the site drive up the hill to the residential area, as well as all earthwork at the top of the hill, will now proceed in the coming weeks. There will be lots of activity at the Newbury in the next few months, so stay tuned for additional construction updates as Newbury begins to take shape!
